NORTH SYDNEY — As part of their tradition of providing support to veterans across the province, Commissionaires Nova Scotia recently presented a cheque for $2,100 to the Harbourview Hospital veterans

The donation will assist with the purchase of an adjustable dining table and to help offset the cost of providing music for seniors.

“Our continued involvement with veterans in long-term care facilities is a moral obligation,” said CEO Bruce Belliveau, in a news release.

“Places like Harbourview Hospital work hard to ensure the needs of veterans are met, and I couldn’t be happier that the commissionaires is able to assist in some small way.”

The Northside facility was one of five to receive funding from the commissionaires' veterans support committee, which has a mandate to assist veterans in hospitals and institutions across the province.

This year, that committee canvassed facilities with resident veterans, asked them to identify projects for which a donation would be appropriate and how the veterans living in their facility would benefit.

After deliberation and assessment by the committee, projects at five facilities across Nova Scotia were accepted for funding from the commissionaires.
